"In 2004, early bud-break, warm consistent summer weather, and a few late summer hot spells resulted in a harvest several weeks earlier than the previous year. It wasn’t so much that the growing season was shorter, but rather that it got off to an earlier start. The resulting wines exhibit wonderful balance and concentration of flavors.
Pure and elegant define my 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon. The sweet toasty oak, cinnamon and bay notes are surrounded by classic cassis. The firm and somewhat “minerally” flavors expand on the palate but are held in check by the structure, suggesting what I think will be a long-lived wine."
I wrote those notes ten years ago. It looks like my longevity notes were accurate! We opened this wine not too long ago, and were delighted at what it had to offer. This is what an aged harmonious Cabernet is all about.
